Nolan Ryan of the Houston Astros, the major leagues’ all-time strikeout leader, thinks he is able to pitch and is unhappy about being put on the 15-day disabled list with arm problems.
“I think they made a hasty decision without checking with me,” Ryan said before departing with the team for a six-game trip. “Anytime you make a hasty decision, it’s usually wrong.”
The Astros put Ryan on the disabled list retroactive to July 28, hoping he will be healthy for the late-season pennant chase.
