WEST BERLIN — Rudolf Hess, 92, who was Adolph Hitler’s deputy, was returned Monday to Spandau prison after a six-day stay in a hospital, a spokesman for the British military authorities said.
“As far as we are concerned, his condition is OK,” Anderson Purdon said.
Hess, the former top aide to the Nazi dictator, has been held in the prison for almost 40 years after his conviction and sentencing to a life term as a war criminal. He was admitted to a British military hospital last Tuesday and treated for blood circulation problems.
