Retail stores in the Houston area were asked to remove Accent flavor enhancer from their shelves because an anonymous letter warned that some containers of the seasoning had been poisoned with cyanide, the Food and Drug Administration said. People who bought Accent in Harris, Montgomery, Waller, Liberty and Fort Bend counties were also asked to return the product to the place of purchase, an FDA spokesman said. Authorities said they knew of no extortion demand or motive. The FDA said that it would test random samples of the product.
