Procter & Gamble Co., Cincinnati, said one of its directors, Amory Houghton Jr., resigned to run for Congress in New York. With Houghton’s resignation, the P&G; board voted to reduce the number of directors to 16.
Separately, the company named Jurgen Hintz group vice president in charge of beverage, food products and soft drink bottling operations and Gerald V. Dirvin group vice president for P&G;’s paper products division, patient-care products and worldwide coordination of the company’s disposable diaper business.
