MANILA — President Corazon Aquino today ordered criminal charges filed against Arturo Tolentino, and the luxury Manila Hotel he called his headquarters during the 38 hours he claimed to be president handed him a bill for $500,000 after supporters ransacked it.
Justice Minister Neptali Gonzales declined to say what charges will be filed against Tolentino, 75, who was Ferdinand E. Marcos’ vice presidential running mate in the disputed Feb. 7 election and stayed behind when Marcos fled to Hawaiian exile on Feb. 26.
