Mayor-elect Maureen O’Connor made the first appointment to her new staff Thursday, announcing that she has chosen Paul Downey as her press secretary.
Downey, who worked as campaign spokesman for O’Connor before her election, formerly worked as an editorial manager with Times Mirror Videotex in Orange County and as managing editor with Copley Videotex in San Diego.
Downey said O’Connor, who will take office Monday, will announce the remainder of her appointments on Tuesday. Eight to 10 more positions will be announced, Downey said.
