An initiative on the Nov. 3 ballot that could lead to the quarantine of AIDS victims is “a very bad idea,” Sen. Pete Wilson (R-Calif). said in Sacramento. The measure, sponsored by followers of Lyndon LaRouche, may actually be “counterproductive,” Wilson said, by causing some victims to avoid testing for the disease “for fear of isolation and virtual confinement.” Wilson noted that the California Medical Assn. also opposes the measure.
