El Toro : Five People Injured in Trabuco Road Collision
A Fullerton man remained in critical condition with injuries received when his pickup truck drifted into oncoming traffic and struck a car head-on in El Toro, the California Highway Patrol said Sunday. Four other persons also were injured.
The accident occurred while James V. Albanese, 21, of Fullerton was towing a trailer Saturday night on Trabuco Road south of Pusan Avenue, a CHP spokeswoman said.
Albanese went around a curve and drifted across the median, striking a car carrying three people, the spokeswoman said.
Albanese suffered major head injuries and was reported in critical condition Sunday at Mission Community Hospital in Mission Viejo.
His passenger, Scott Lucas, 22, of El Toro, suffered a broken leg and was reported in stable condition at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana.
Irwin Lewis, 21, of Santa Ana, the driver of the car, was reported in serious condition with major facial cuts at Mission Community Hospital.
His two passengers also were hospitalized. John Rose, 20, of Santa Ana was in stable condition with facial cuts at Western Medical Center, and Karen Ackiron, 19, of Irvine was in serious condition with moderate head injuries at Mission Community.
Albanese was not cited, but an investigation is continuing, the CHP spokeswoman said.
