Thrill at Rose Hall
I read with great interest Betty Hughes’ article re Rose Hall in Jamaica (May 25). My husband and I also visited Rose Hall 21 years ago. We, too, were thrilled touring the ruins. We hired a taxi and our driver served also as our guide. He told us that Erroll Flynn planned to film a picture there about the lore and ghost of Rose Hall but passed away before it came to fruition.
Betty was indeed brave to visit the hall at night. We were there during daylight hours and it was spooky enough.
While there we were recommended a book which we bought, and I still have. It is “The White Witch of Rose Hall” by Herbert G. de Lisser, Ernest Benn Ltd., London Press (1958).
