Ex-Police Officer Called Head of Robbery Ring

PHILADELPHIA — A former city police officer has been convicted of robbery and conspiracy in the holdups of people he apparently thought were involved in illegal activities and were not likely to report the crimes.
Assistant Dist. Atty. Marc Gottlieb called Grover C. Dinwiddie, 35, who was found guilty Friday, the mastermind of a robbery ring, linking him to three robberies in 1983 in which a total of about $4,000 in cash and merchandise was stolen.
