Joan Baez may have been an influential musician-activist in the ‘60s, but times have changed and she hasn’t (“Amnesty Tour: Keeping the Doors Open,” by Robert Hilburn, June 22).
She seemed to miss the whole purpose of the Amnesty concerts and could stand to take a few lessons from Bono.
While Baez thinks it is her duty to preach and condemn the audience, Bono believes his job is “to inspire and invite people to think about matters that should be important to them.”
Maybe if Baez had the charisma and understanding that Bono shares with the audience, she might be heard.
