The State : 2 Deny Boy’s Fatal Beating
Two Oakland men who posed as man and wife pleaded innocent in the alleged beating death of the 14-month-old boy they were in the process of adopting. Alvin Woodard, 24, and Gregory Rogers, 29, were held without bail pending a preliminary hearing in Oakland Municipal Court. They told police they were “married” in Nevada four years ago. The Black Adoption Placement Research Center said its staff members were misled into believing they were man and wife.
