Cypress : Firefighter Injured in Blaze at Ice Cream Shop
An ice cream shop was destroyed and other businesses in a small Cypress shopping center were damaged early Wednesday by a fire of unknown origin, a county Fire Department spokesman said.
In battling the blaze at the scene, a firefighter suffered electrical shock when a utility company worker mistakenly restored power to the burning building, authorities said.
Firefighter Marty Brandon was treated at Los Alamitos Medical Center for electrical burns and later released, spokesman Craig Kinoshita said.
Damage--most of it to the Swensen Ice Cream Outlet Factory--was estimated at $73,500, Kinoshita said. He said the cause of the fire has not been determined.
