Rolling Hills : Council Approves Budget

The City Council this week approved a $367,452 general government budget for 1986-87. The new budget essentially maintains the current level of services except for an increase traffic enforcement through a $10,000 addition to the police contract with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

In addition to general government, the budget contains expenditures from several special funds, including $322,358 for refuse collection that is paid for by users.

In approving the budget recommended by City Manager Terrence L. Belanger, the council added $25,000 to study the feasibility of putting a sewer system in the city. Belanger said that some residents have requested that sewers replace the septic tanks that now serve the city’s 629 homes.

In other action, the council authorized spending up to $37,500 for its share of a geological study of the recently discovered expansion of the Flying Triangle landslide into Rancho Palos Verdes. The two cities have formed a joint task force to determine the nature of the slide and where and how fast it is moving.
