A former government employee was sentenced to three years in prison for illegally issuing Social Security cards to Filipinos who paid up to $75 for each card. Jerry Ortega, 29, was also ordered to serve three years’ probation by U.S. District Judge Consuelo Marshall. Ortega, a former Social Security Administration employee now living in Denver, was convicted of conspiracy and making false statements to the government.
