Former boxing champion Bobby Chacon was ordered to stand trial on two felony charges of beating a woman he later married.
Following a preliminary hearing in Oroville Justice Court, a judge set a June 25 trial date in Superior Court on charges of inflicting corporal punishment on a cohabitant, and battery with serious bodily injury.
Renee Vincent, 25, had reported to authorities Chacon punched her in the nose during an argument three weeks ago. She was treated at a hospital for a broken nose.
Chacon, 35, formerly held the World Boxing Council’s featherweight and super-featherweight titles.
Vincent and Chacon were married last weekend.
If convicted of the charges, Chacon could face up to four years in prison.
