Edelman launched a new bid to acquire Fruehauf.
New York investor Asher B. Edelman said a partnership that he heads plans a $44-a-share tender offer for the truck-trailer manufacturer. Earlier this year, Fruehauf rejected proposals from the Edelman group to buy the company for $41 and, later, $42 a share. The group already owns about 9.5% of Fruehauf’s 23.8 million total common shares and equivalents outstanding. Under the new bid, the cost of buying the stock would be $946.9 million.
