Visitors to Expo 86 in Vancouver should be aware that Res West B&Bs; are not all that they should be. Because I was unable to get a hotel reservation (in March) I registered with Res West. They promised to mail the address where I was to stay. I received nothing. The weeks went by. After several phone calls, the last one being just four days before I left home, I was given an address and telephone number.
I arrived in Vancouver at 11:30 a.m. and no one answered the phone. My cab driver located the house and no one came to the door. I found out later the occupants were asleep; they had been notified of my ETA.
I then went to the nearest hotel, which was the Sheraton Villa Inn, and had no trouble whatsoever getting a room. I stayed five nights.
Last year I wrote you, stating that B&Bs; are a rip-off, and they are.
On the brighter side, Expo 86 is fantastic and well worth seeing.
