New Home Sales Fall After 5-Month Rise

WASHINGTON — New home sales fell 3.5% in April after five consecutive monthly increases, the Commerce Department reported today.
Contributing to the decline was a 15% drop in new home sales in the South, hard hit by oil-related losses. Despite the relatively slight decline, the April rate of new single-home sales was still 33% above a year ago.
