The owner of a liquor store that sells an average of 9,000 California Lottery tickets a week was honored Thursday as the contest’s retailer of the month for his colorful advertising techniques.
Tony Lopiccolo, owner of Stadium Liquors, was given a green and gold clock plaque by Molly English, manager of the lottery’s southern region, in a ceremony attended by local officials at his store in Anaheim.
Lottery spokesman Juan Thomas said Lopiccolo was chosen as the May retailer of the month for his use of large lottery posters in his store windows and because he painted his exterior walls with large lottery logos.
“We really liked his creativity with lottery displays,” Thomas said.
Lopiccolo sells about 9,000 lottery tickets a week at his store at 1459 S. Anaheim Blvd., which is “quite high” for a small retailer, Thomas said.
