Underwood Powers Linfield Christian Past Faith Baptist

Brett Underwood hit two home runs and had six runs batted in Saturday to lead Linfield Christian High past Faith Baptist, 11-8, to eliminate Faith Baptist from the Southern Section Small Schools Division baseball playoffs in the quarterfinal round.

All four Valley-area teams remaining in the playoffs lost coin flips Saturday and will play the semifinal round on the road. Simi Valley plays Esperanza at Cal State Fullerton, Rio Mesa plays Lompoc at Cabrillo High, Saugus plays Montclair at Upland’s Memorial Field and Providence meets Windward at Pasadena Poly. All games are scheduled for 3:15 p.m. Tuesday.
