Merle Schlosser Resigns as the San Diego State Men’s Golf Coach

SAN DIEGO — Merle Schlosser, San Diego State’s men’s golf coach, resigned after serving for one year as the Aztecs’ coach, SDSU Athletic Director Fred Miller announced Wednesday.
Schlosser, 57, was named coach on Sept. 30, 1985 after serving for 16 years as the golf coach at Western Michigan.
“The job requires full-time attention and at this stage that is not what we are looking for,” Schlosser said in a statement. “The program is at a level where it needs that kind of commitment and it is not my nature to do a half-way job.”
Schlosser led the Aztecs to a fifth-place finish in the Western Athletic Conference tournament last week in Honolulu.
