Baby James, the 15-month-old recipient of a human heart transplant at Loma Linda University Medical Center on April 26, has been discharged “with no evidence of infection or rejection,” Dr. Leonard Bailey, the center’s chief pediatric heart surgeon, announced. Baby James, the third infant to receive a human heart transplant at Loma Linda since last November and the third to be sent home, had an “uncomplicated recovery,” Bailey said. A fourth infant transplant patient, Baby Rachel, is expected to be discharged soon, a hospital spokesman said.
