Elevated Trolley Urged for Warner Center Core

Woodland Hills Chamber of Commerce leaders Tuesday urged Los Angeles County transit planners to build a proposed cross-San Fernando Valley trolley line above busy automobile traffic in congested Warner Center.
Chamber directors voted to ask the county Transportation Commission to construct raised tracks and an elevated light-rail station at the intersection of Owensmouth Avenue and Oxnard Street.
That site is in the core of Warner Center, a 1,100-acre commercial and residential area.
The business group said an elevated route along Owensmouth Avenue between Victory Boulevard and Oxnard Street would be superior to other possible routes--including a ground-level route looping around Warner Center’s core.
Chamber President Richard Shultz said Warner Center’s master plan has long called for development of an elevated commuter station in the core.
