Local News in Brief : Body Is Discovered After Dog Finds Skull in Topanga Canyon
A dog out for a walk with its owner turned up a human skull in Topanga Canyon on Sunday, leading Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies to the discovery of the body of a man in a shallow grave.
The dog and its owner were walking near 2530 Topanga Canyon Blvd., in the Glenview area south of Mulholland Drive, when the animal found the skull, Deputy Sam Jones said. The dog’s owner called the Malibu sheriff’s substation, and a search team of deputies in a helicopter sighted the rest of the partially decomposed body about a quarter of a mile from the site where the skull was found, Jones said.
Sheriff’s detectives are investigating the victim’s identity and the cause of death, Jones said.
