The Nuclear Disaster in the Soviet Union
The Russian government never ceases to amaze me. Apparently Tass reported the Chernobyl accident in two paragraphs, while running an eight-paragraph article on nuclear accidents in the United States.
How a government can use such a tragic incident for its own purposes is beyond me. Our government, as well as the media, should take this into account in handling this delicate situation. People have died in this accident, and the potential for more deaths is great. Let us not forget that.
Let all of us, as a people and a nation, join together and do our utmost for the Russian people. Our aid is very much in need, and our government, hopefully, will provide as much as possible with no rhetoric attached.
Let us all pray for the Russian people, and especially for the Russian government--a government so paranoid that it risked its own citizenry for the sake of propaganda and pride. For shame.
