Woman Falls Off Pier in Newport, Drowns

An unidentified woman fell off the pier at Archs Marina in Newport Beach on Thursday afternoon and drowned, police reported.
A police spokesman said an investigation was continuing and details of the accident were sketchy, adding that “we don’t know how she fell off the pier.”
A spokesman for the coroner said the woman’s identification was being withheld pending notification of relatives.
