Help-wanted advertising fell again in March.

The Conference Board’s seasonally adjusted index of help-wanted advertising fell to 138 in March, four points below February’s 142 and down three points from the year-ago level of 141. The index measures the volume of classified advertising in 51 major newspapers across the nation. The index is sensitive to changes in the demand for labor as well as business conditions, the research group said. Help-wanted advertising volume fell in seven of the nine regions of the country measured. Only the New England and Pacific regions registered increases.
