Bergen Brunswig Agrees to Acquire Texas Firm
Bergen Brunswig Corp. officials said they have signed a definitive agreement to acquire Southwestern Drug Corp., a Texas-based pharmaceuticals distributor with annual sales of about $150 million. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Orange-based Bergen Brunswig is a diversified distributor of drugs, medical and surgical supplies and pre-recorded videocassettes. The company posted six-month revenues of $1.5 billion and a profit of $12.6 million for the period ended Feb. 28.
For its fiscal 1985, ended Aug. 31, Bergen Brunswig reported earnings from continuing operations of $24.2 million on revenue of $2.4 billion. In October, the company moved its headquarters to Orange from Los Angeles.
