IBM will use a huge chip in its large computers.

The company said it was the first to begin volume production of the 1-megabit memory chip, and the first to put them in mainframe computers. Several other companies have been doing limited production and sampling of the chips, which hold 1 million pieces of information, or between 80 and 100 typewritten pages of information. IBM is using the chip in its high-end 3090 series computers.
