Passenger, 19, Dies in Bouquet Canyon Crash

A car spun out of control at a curve on Bouquet Canyon Road near Valencia on Friday night and struck a utility pole, killing a passenger, Maria K. Westley, 19, of Valencia, the California Highway Patrol reported.
CHP Officer Janet Engler said the car’s driver, John Savko, 26, whose address was not given, was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving. He was taken to the Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center Jail Ward, where he was listed in stable condition Saturday. Hospital officials would not reveal the nature of his injuries.
Savko’s car was traveling north at high speed near Wellston Drive when the accident occurred, Engler said.
