Two men and a woman believed to be in their early 30s were drowned when their car roared off the Cabrillo Beach boat launching ramp at high speed and into the waters of San Pedro Bay. Los Angeles firefighters in scuba gear found the car in 30 feet of water and recovered the bodies about 40 minutes later. All three were pronounced dead at the scene when resuscitation efforts were not successful.
