Stressing the seriousness of the crime, U.S. District Court Judge A. Wallace Tashima sentenced Tony Carreon, 54, of Pico Rivera to two years in federal prison for conspiracy and fined him $2,000 for possession of more than 60,000 cartons of stolen untaxed cigarettes. Asst. U.S. Atty. David A. Katz said evidence at the trial disclosed that Carreon and Eugene Edward Seal, 57, still a fugitive, arranged to bring a truck load of cigarettes--stolen in transit from Georgia to Ohio--to Los Angeles for sale for little more than a dollar a pack. The criminal operation was discovered by the FBI.
