The Region : Ogorodnikovs to Testify
Admitted Soviet spies Svetlana and Nikolai Ogorodnikov--who never testified in the first espionage trial of former FBI Agent Richard Miller--will be called as defense witnesses in his retrial, Miller’s attorney said. Lawyer Stanley Greenberg said that Svetlana, who was Miller’s lover, will be the first witness called. The Ogorodnikovs pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges last June as their trial was concluding. The first trial of Miller, who claimed he was posing as a traitor to infiltrate the Soviet spy network, ended in a hung jury.
