1 Dies, 2 Hurt as Pickup and Auto Collide
Alfonso Valenzuela, 30, of Santa Ana, was killed about 3:30 p.m. Thursday and two others were injured when the car in which Valenzuela was riding collided with a pickup as the car started to turn left on Bristol Street in Costa Mesa onto the San Diego Freeway.
The 1975 Camaro driven by Francisco Roman Sadela, 28, of Santa Ana collided with the small southbound truck driven by Lourdes Maria Nuno, 25, of Newport Beach. Another passenger in Sadela’s car, Guillermina Roman, 28, of Santa Ana, suffered broken ribs and internal injuries. Nuno suffered a collapsed lung and other injuries.
Two children riding in the Camaro were uninjured, a police spokesman said. The rush-hour accident snarled traffic on Bristol for about 1 1/2 hours.
