Advocates, Foes Raise Voices on Libya-U.S. Issue

The head of the National Council of Churches on Tuesday denounced armed U.S. retaliation for Libyan missile launches in the Gulf of Sidra.
And in Fresno, Calif., demonstrators opposed to the retaliation competed for attention with war veterans who support the action in dual rallies Tuesday.
In New York City, the Rev. Arie Brouwer, general secretary of the National Council of Churches, protested the U.S. military maneuvers off Libya as “irresponsible” and risking a nuclear confrontation.
