Local News in Brief : Granada Hills Man Arrested in Fire at His Newhall Video Shop
A Granada Hills man was arrested Tuesday in connection with a fire that severely damaged his Newhall video store last week, officials said.
Jaiprakash Sarode, 27, was arrested at his home on a warrant accusing him of arson in a fire at the Video Connection on Lyons Avenue. The fire did an estimated $100,000 in damage to the store and its contents, Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Lynda Edmonds said.
Sarode was being held in lieu of $5,000 bail in the Santa Clarita Valley sheriff’s station. His arraignment is scheduled today in the Newhall courthouse, Edmonds said.
