U.S. Condemns Iraq’s Use of Chemical Arms

From Reuters

The United States on Thursday condemned Iraq for using chemical weapons banned by international law against Iranian forces in the Persian Gulf War.

U.S. Ambassador Donald Lowitz told the 40-nation disarmament conference that the conclusion of a U.N. report that Iraq recently used chemical arms against Iran was “in accord with the United States findings.”

“My country deplores Iraq’s use of chemical weapons in this conflict” and “strongly condemns the prohibited use of chemical weapons wherever it occurs,” Lowitz said.
