“Sugar” Ray Seales, the only U.S. boxer to win a gold medal at the 1972 Olympic Games, is broke. Seales, 33, who lost most of his sight to injuries suffered in the ring, was adjudged bankrupt after listing debts of more than $160,000.
The former boxer, who has had seven eye operations, listed 35 creditors--mostly physicians, hospitals and medical suppliers--in U.S. Bankruptcy Court papers.
