Bones of Woman Found in Trash Bag in Daly City

DALY CITY, Calif. — A hiker found a woman’s skeleton stuffed into a large garbage bag near a Daly City beach, police said Wednesday.
Detective Don McCarthy said the woman, who is unidentified, is believed to have died two to four years ago. He did not rule out foul play.
“It’s hard to commit suicide and climb into a plastic bag,” he said.
McCarthy said the grisly find was made Sunday off Skyline Boulevard, near deserted Thornton Beach. The bones were hidden in a thick patch of ice plant that had grown over and covered most of the remains, he said.
He said police would search through records of missing women, and an anthropologist from San Francisco State University has been asked to help. McCarthy said the skull contained extensive bridgework. Dental records can provide clues to a person’s identity.
