Swimmer Carpenter Leads OCC Past Mt. San Antonio

Cheri Carpenter qualified for the State women’s swim meet in three events Friday and led Orange Coast College past Mt. San Antonio, 71-35, in a South Coast Conference meet at Orange Coast.
Carpenter, the high scorer in last season’s state meet, qualified in the 50-yard freestyle (25.35 seconds), the 50 butterfly (28.31) and the 100 individual medley (1:05.25). The Pirates (3-0 in the SCC and 4-0 overall) have won 38 straight dual meets in the last four years, the longest winning streak in the state.
In men’s swimming action:
Orange Coast 65, Mt. San Antonio 32--Rick Haddad won three events to lead the Pirates (3-0, 4-0) in an SCC meet at OCC.
