The USFL will play next fall in competition with the established NFL with two four-team divisions.
The Liberty Division will include the defending league champion Baltimore Stars, Birmingham Stallions, Memphis Showboats and New Jersey Generals, while the Independence Division will include the Arizona Outlaws, Jacksonville Bulls, Orlando Renegades and Tampa Bay Bandits.
Harry Usher, the USFL commissioner, said that an 18-game regular-season schedule will open Sept. 14 and conclude Jan. 11.
