Competitors formed a human blockade on the course and forced cancellation of a men’s World Cup giant slalom because of treacherous conditions at Aspen, Colo.
The start of the first race was delayed nearly two hours as crews worked on the course after an overnight rain. The World Cup jury voted, 3-2, to proceed with the race, but after the first two forerunners fell in fog and heavy snow on Aspen Mountain, more than 30 racers--nearly all of them from Europe--blocked the course.
