President Resigns at Frederick’s

Frederick’s of Hollywood, the old-line specialty lingerie retailer, announced that Robert W. Hansen, 56, has resigned as president and chief operating officer, effective April 1.
In addition, Joseph A. Nussbaum, 71, has retired as president of the company’s mail-order subsidiary and as a corporate vice president. No replacement was announced for Hansen, who joined Frederick’s 19 years ago.
David S. Leibowitz, an analyst with American Securities Corp. in New York, said Hansen’s retirement clearly indicated his “differences of philosophy” with George W. Townson, who became chairman and chief executive of Frederick’s in May, 1985.
“The board brought in a new CEO, which indicated that (Hansen) was not heir apparent to Mr. (Frederick) Mellinger,” the founder, Leibowitz said. “Hansen was clearly looking to run something of his own.”
Townson could not be reached for comment.
