Hotel Weekend Special
To boost weekend traffic, Marriott Hotels has launched a $49-per-room (not per-person) rate at most of its U.S. properties good for Friday or Saturday nights, or both, until May 31.
Some properties extend the $49 rate for Sunday night as well. Otherwise, additional nights before or after the weekend are at regular rates.
As many as five people can stay in a room at the $49 rate, with no extra charge at most of the hotels for extra beds. However, that is something to determine when making your reservation.
Although not required, reservations are recommended. There are no blackout periods, and holiday weekends are included. Rooms are strictly on a capacity-controlled and space-available basis. No other discount or promotional rates can be used with the $49 rate.
Be sure to ask for this discount when making your reservation. No deposit is required, and rooms are on a confirmed basis. But you do have to show up by check-in time, usually 6 p.m. Confirmation of your reservation will be sent to you if it will reach you five or more working days before the first night’s stay. If there is not enough time for the confirmation to be mailed, get the confirmation number over the phone.
To hold a room beyond the check-in time, guarantee it by credit card.
The discount varies from hotel to hotel, but averages 20% to 30% off regular rack rates on a systemwide basis.
The $49 rate is available at about 120 Marriott hotels in the United States. Some of the chain’s properties in resort areas, however, aren’t participating in the program. Resort hotels that are offering the $49 weekend rate include properties at the Lake of the Ozarks, outside of Atlantic City, N.J., suburban Chicago and Lexington, Ky.
