LAKESIDE — A 58-year-old man was killed by a hit-and-run driver Friday night as he walked on Woodside Avenue near Winter Gardens Boulevard in Lakeside, the California Highway Patrol said.
Robert Allison of Lakeside was in the middle of the road when he was struck by a late-model pickup at about 7 p.m. He died three hours later at El Cajon Medical Center.
The hit-and-run vehicle is described as a white 1982 to 1984 Ford Ranger pickup with a camper shell and damage to the right front and right center of the truck’s body. It also has a buckled hood, the CHP said.
