Lonnie Smith, an outfielder for the World Series champion Kansas City Royals, said he will accept baseball Commissioner Peter Ueberroth’s decision concerning a drug-related conditional suspension.
Smith was among seven players ordered punished last week for their involvement in drug abuse.
Smith agreed to pay $85,000--10% of his salary--to a drug program, to take random drug tests for the remainder of his baseball career and to contribute 100 hours to community service in each of the next two years.
