Monterey Park : More Open Space in Works
The Monterey Park City Council has voted to increase open-space requirements for apartments and residential condominiums, but to exclude development projects already pending with the city.
Councilmen David Almada and Cam Briglio sought to make the new requirements effective immediately, but the three other council members said it would be unfair to force developers to redraw plans. Projects with a total of 107 residential units are pending with the city. A selection process is under way that will lead to construction permits for only 85 of the 107 units, under the city’s growth-limit initiative.
