Shame on Channel 5 for showing such a poor print of “How the West Was Won.” Not only were the colors faded to the point that you might as well have watched it on a black-and-white set, but the audio track was distorted to the point that composer Alfred Newman’s music sounded like it came from a record that had been pressed in a waffle iron! Channel 5 used to have some quality control in the prints it showed. What happened?
