Jewelry Belonging to Titanic Victim Stolen

NEW YORK — A man posing as an electrician used a phony work order to get into the luxury apartment of Donald B. Straus, heir to the Macy’s retailing fortune, and stole $125,000 in jewelry, police said Saturday.
The thief reportedly took 13 large pieces of jewelry and heirlooms that belonged to Straus’ grandfather, Isidor, the Macy’s owner who died in the sinking of the Titanic in 1912. Investigators were seeking clues to the burglary Friday.
